Tom Dennis'
studio location provides tour-goers the
perfect opportunity to venture up to Denman's north end. The Lake
Farm is just that extra little bit farther off the beaten track where
the peaceful solitude of island living is truly palpable!
It has
certainly proven to be the perfect work environment for Dennis who
after so many years alternating between a tractor and the seat of his
pottery wheel continues to enjoy the meditative practise of producing
beautiful functional wares.
Sturdy mugs, vases so tall they would
make excellent umbrella stands, squared plates, and ample platters
currently line the studio showroom shelves alongside hearty bowls and
more in a combination of shades ranging from moss green and ruby red
to mauve and golden brown. Double dipping, pouring, and spraying
overlapping glazes are several techniques Dennis uses to achieve his
versatile colour range.
